A few of my favorites (right) from the 2012 & 2016 presidential campaign trails.
During the past few presidential elections, I have been on the campaign trail as a photojournalist. In 2008, I worked for the political blog FiveThirtyEight, which was later acquired by The New York Times (and more recently, ESPN). In 2012, I partnered with TalkingPointsMemo & Corbis Images as a freelance photojournalist. In 2016, I was back home with FiveThirtyEight.

Shot over the course of a week in Mendocino County, Morongo Valley, and New York City, the film is a dark, but beautiful meditation on a wayward soul’s pursuit of peace.

A dozen of my favorites portraits from over the years.
Five days after I graduated from college, I packed a cheap DSLR camera and a few essentials into my rusty '95 Buick Regal and headed south with a couple buddies. We thought the car might make it to Mexico City – though, that seemed like a tall order.
But, she never died. We made it all the way to the end of the road: the bottom tip of Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia. And then, all the way back up to Rio de Janeiro.
After about 22,500 miles and three quarters of a year, I had taught myself to use a camera. Looking back, these photos are a little rough around the edges. But, so was the adventure.
